Favorite Foto Friday!

Love this clock at Marymount University - our new weekend hangout for summer basketball league.  We are enjoying exploring Arlington as well.  So many cool places with shopping and restaurants in our "backyard" that we haven't seen yet.  Oh yeah, and there's that historical stuff too.

The City of Brotherly Love

A few months ago, I toured Philadelphia with my mom and her friend, Doris.  I knew then that I wanted to go back with my family.  It was fun to take them back and see other things in this beautiful town that's not necessarily historic to the 1700's.  The girls have seen the Independence Hall buildings and such on school class trips and Michael played chaperone on each trip.

Our hotel was next to the ball park and after breakfast we headed into the historic district. Goals on this day were to see the Liberty Bell (Mason's request) and eat lunch at Reading Terminal Market.

 We jumped on a double decker bus tour and saw the sites of this beautiful city.

 Grabbed lunch at RTM and took it to Love Park to eat. The kids played in the fountain and we climbed on huge game pieces. There were pieces from chess, Sorry, Monopoly and very large dominos.

Betsy Ross House

We got back on the next bus and finished the tour.  Saw beautiful architecture, many sculptures and murals, fountains and several wedding parties. This is a town built on the religious freedoms rooted in the Quaker traditions.  We saw Betsy Ross' house and Ben Franklin's gravesite.   There is still so much to experience in Philadelphia that we began discussing what we would do on our next trip back.  Mason did see the Liberty Bell through the glass window.  The line wrapped around the building and the exhibit would have closed before we had our turn.  That will be our first stop next trip.

His Beloved Phillies

Last weekend we surprised Michael with a family trip to Philadelphia to see a game and tour the new Citizens Bank park.  He's been a life-long fan of all Philadelphia sports teams.

This precious field is mowed each and every day.

But he DID touch it and if you ask he will show you the
grass clippings that he plucked from that area.  Bad Boy!!!

This is what we did while he was touring the stadium.  
It was hard workbut someone had to
keep those beach towels from flying around in the wind.

After our afternoon naps we went back to the stadium, it was just a block away from the hotel.  Great planning, I must say.

After a long game with no action, the Phillies scored
a run and won the game.

Counting

Did I mention I'm counting the days of summer?  My intent is to count each day ~ in order to make each day count.  Read what my good friend pdan wrote today about numbers and counting.

First Day of Summer Break

Wow, was this a long school year or what?  Seemed to go on forever.  But it's over and Meagan is resting today......NOT.  She has a list of many things to get done today so that we can enjoy a few days of fun to come.  One of those things is not homework and that is good for her.

I love to count and document days:  for example, I can tell you without looking it up that we are on cycle 3, day 10 of our 17 DAY DIET plan.  (doing very well with that, BTW-approaching a big goal that I will write about once I arrive there)  I want to document our summer break with a picture a day.  Maybe with a little explanation for each pic, not sure yet.  It sounds so easy but I know we'll get busy and it might seem like a chore after a few days/weeks.  I think I'll give it a try.  67 days of summer break - here we come!!!  Wish me luck!
